In order to be successful at content marketing and keep your audience continuously engaged, you need to be consistent. You have to keep offering a stream of quality content in order to build relationships and the loyalty of your audience. Here are some ways to consistently produce relevant, high-value content.

Keep a Consistent Schedule

Reliability is critical when creating content. Just think of a TV show that you love. You wait all week for it and when it takes a week off, you’re a little disappointed. The content you deliver to your readers is exactly the same. And when you’re building relationships with potential future clients, there’s no room for content gaps. Once you have their attention, keep it by feeding them regular doses of value. 

Decide how much content you can produce on a regular basis and define exactly when you will publish. Write this on your editorial calendar and produce your content accordingly. Look for Corners to Cut

As you go about producing content, look for shortcuts that will save you time and expense. Look for ways to economize, producing the same amount of content at the same level of quality, but at a lower cost. Refer back to the post on repurposing content.  Automate aspects of the content creation process to make production quicker. Keep an idea file and refer to it when you have writer’s block.

However, it goes without saying that you shouldn’t cut corners on quality. The goal here is to simply streamline the process so that producing and distributing content doesn’t cost so much time or expense.

Keep Everyone on the Same Page

If you have a team working together on your content, make sure they are all on the same page. Everyone should have access to the calendar and know the big picture of what’s going on. Make sure there’s good communication between different members of your team and seek their input on ways to make improvements or increase efficiency. 

Plan Ahead

Plan each step in the content creation process well ahead of time and keep everything in sync. For example, if you’re sending out an email newsletter, make sure that you have newsletters loaded up early so that you’re not in a pinch later to write. Try to keep as much content loaded up ahead of time as possible. Produce content that’s related to seasonal or timely events early so that it’s ready for publication at the right time.

Try to plan your content publishing from the point of view of the audience. Create pieces on the same topic at the same time so that they can all be released together for the biggest impact on your audience.

Stay Current

Put a plan in place to gather new information so that you can stay current. Pay attention to the work of content creators similar to you and their audience’s reactions to their content. Write about things that are timely and important to your audience whenever possible. 

One way to do this is to subscribe to or follow similar content creators. You can also sign up for alerts for certain keywords so that whenever new content using those keywords is posted, you’ll know right away.

Diversify Your Content

When you monitor the reactions of your readers to your content, you’ll want to repeat the successes you’ve had. But this shouldn’t be your only content strategy. You should also diversify your content. Produce content in as many different formats as possible. Keep topics fresh and varied. As part of your content strategy, regularly try adding something new to the mix. For example, if you usually write text-based blogs but decide to branch out into video, you’ll reach a segment of your market that prefers watching videos to reading.

Prioritize on Your Calendar

On your calendar, prioritize tasks related to content and set a timeframe for each. Divide tasks into those that are daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, and so on. Which tasks do you feel should be done each day? Which can be done twice a week? Set everything on your calendar and then as you track your progress, you can adjust accordingly. 

You may, for example, find that you don’t need to post on Facebook daily. On the other hand, you may decide to have a bi-weekly instead of weekly review of your analytics.

Your next step is to create  a content schedule, a plan about how much content you can publish each week and where you’re going to publish it. From there, you can start brainstorming topics and creating a system for writing content, scheduling it, and staying on top of what your target audience wants and needs from you. Remeber that at the end of the day your content is about providing value to your ideal client and building that relationship with them so that they in turn hire you to be their health coach.
